Disinterested in the traditional look of cars and enervated of the expensive costs of fluctuating gas prices, the Elio is a new futuristic car that offers safe, comfortable, and affordable drives. The mission of the Elio marketing team is to provide a fun‐to‐drive, super‐economical personal transportation alternative, that’s affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly. The Elio is committed to the American dream, creating American jobs, and bringing American automotive ingenuity to every vehicle.
The Elio is a prototype of a two seated; three‐wheeled car invented by the company Elio Motors. The idea of the Elio was to create an inexpensive, fuel‐efficient car that was made in America. At the reasonable price of $6,800, the Elio can be driven on the highway, reaching up to 84 miles for every gallon of gas, due to its aerodynamic frame. The innovated vehicle had planned to be manufactured in 2014, however the company faced multiple issues. Such issues included raising enough money and securing production facilities. As of right now, Elio Motors is offering spots on the waiting list for their customers for a reservation plan, either refundable or non‐refundable in amounts of $100, $250, $500 and $1,000. The company currently has $65 million raised out of the $230 million needed to start the production of the Elios. The number of spots on the waiting list continues to increase, and is currently at 40,000 people. In addition, with a donation of $1000 non‐refundable dollars, the contributor can receive a small goody bag from the company, which includes the car’s production number. As of right now, 14,000 people have participated. However, many people who are on the waiting list have become restless and irritated by the delays in production. Therefore, Elio Motors must be cautious and consider the possibility of many consumers requesting refunds and taking legal action. Even though this is a possibility, Elio motors is confident in fulfilling the dreams of their consumers, and will therefore continue to sell spots on the waiting list.
On another note, in today’s increasingly modern world, the Elio would fit the lifestyle of a person looking for a cost, and fuel‐efficient ride. The car itself may not be made for the family man, but is valuable with a sleek, modern look, making it ideal for someone who is looking for an affordable ride, as well as luxury. Aside from being an enjoyable, affordable, and safe alternative for many drivers, the Elio is also very friendly on the environment. Manufacturing the Elio can also help the American economy by creating more job opportunities for Americans and reaching a wide variety of new consumers. In addition, just like any product, the company offers a variety of different colors available to choose from. The color options are bright and flashy, and very catching to the eye. The Elio Motors company developed their palate of colors with the intention to turn heads, and make the colors as fun and unique as the Elio itself.
The Elio also reaches a wide variety of consumers. It not only offers mobility to the working class, but also to college students around campus, and to families who are in search of a smaller, more practical vehicle. I believe the Elio is a great new marketing opportunity for Elio motors because it offers a new market in the auto vehicle industry. Not many car dealers offer a three‐wheeled, two‐seater car that is environmentally friendly. Since the Elio is not yet a real or available option for people, no one knows for certain how the car will actually do in an open market. However, in my opinion I think there is a lot of potential for this car since the world is rapidly advancing in economically and environmentally friendly products.
