James Frackleton presents on digital marketing (April 9, 2015).

I want to convey a hearty thank you to James Frackleton (Assistant Director of Digital Marketing, Merrimack College), who visited our BUS2205 classes today to talk about digital marketing. James presented on a variety of topics, including social media marketing, analytics, remarketing,  the use of Salesforce, and key digital marketing skills. I, personally, learned a great deal about Google Analytics and Facebook advertising from his presentations, and I hope you found them to be informative and valuable.

I’m interested to hear your feedback about what you liked and learned from James’ presentations. If you attended, please share.

Andrew

I thought James gave a great talk. I had no idea there were that many aspects of digital marketing. Besides gaining a knowledge on the topic, I learned about the different data you can gather from websites themselves. I thought it was amazing the way a page online can be broken down into percentages for where exactly users have clicked and what parts of the site are used most frequently. In doing so, you can see which parts of your website are most visited and adjust where different links can be placed to receive the most site-traffic. It is good to know because it is such an easy way to gather 100% accurate data rather than discussing thoughts and opinions.

I’d like to thank Mr. Frackleton for taking sometime out of his busy schedule to come to our class for a informative presentation on Marketing. I learned a lot from his his presentation. Sometimes reading from the book can be confusing, so to hear about his experiences were helpful and easier to understand. Also some of the things that he described about when visiting site like Amazon and looking at a product to buy then it appears on other sites to remind you to buy. I never knew that was a part of marketing. Again, thank you Mr. Frackleton for your presentation on Thursday.

This presentation was very interesting and very informative for me! I am a social media marketing intern this semester, so I was able to relate my work back to the information he gave us and also learned a great deal about the work I’ve actually been doing! I knew some about some of the topics he covered such as Facebook advertising and a little about Google Analytics, but I learned even more valuable facts about them. I really liked learning about Salesforce and how it is a great source for checking up on email campaigns as well as keeping organized lists of email candidates. I definitely plan to incorporate Salesforce into my work and show my boss the website in since we are used to using Constant Contact and MailChimp! Salesforce seems much more organized and gives you more information to learn about the people clicking on your email. This presentation by James Frackleton really interested me, and I hope to be doing something similar for my career someday!

I found the presentation in class to be very insightful. As a young sophomore in college it can be difficult to understand the real world applications of what you are learning in the classroom. I thought that having James come in and give us a nice run down of what his job entails was a great way to see how our classroom learning expierences will carry over into the real world and into the work place. I thought it was very interesting to see the different ways that the school is able to communicate with its students and how they are able to monitor the communications. I personally was very impressed with the fact that the school has the ability to see if a student received an email from the school and to see if the email was opened and if the link was clicked on. Overall, I felt that the presentation gave a great look into my personal future in the business world.

I found the most value in Jame’s presentation the first had look at a Google analytic’s page, as well as specifically how ads online function. The analytic information Googles resources can offer any company must help enormously when it comes to better understanding your consumers. Seeing the behind the scenes of how people can target facebookusers down to their shared interests is also fairly impressive. And it makes sense as to why facebook ads can be so effective.

I really enjoyed this short presentation and wish that he could have spoke more. It really informed me on digital marketing and made me want to look more into that field of marketing. I did not know there was so much information marketers could access from people using the internet and their websites. This has really changed my view on what I may want to do in marketing.

As someone who has had to do a little bit of social media marketing myself I really liked this presentation. It was nice to learn about the variety of media through which they advertised for the college especially ones that I didn’t know about. I liked also when he spoke about analytics because you know it is something companies look at and is obviously a huge part of marketing because you want to see what is affective and whats not. In my experience analytics were strangely hard to follow because I worked at a medical spa that did botox (which people don’t often post about) so it was cool to hear about how they can be used in marketing.
I have to think about a lot of this when marketing myself as a hair and makeup service so learning how to keep things different and use a variety of media to get messages across.

I enjoyed Mr. Frackleton’s presentation. I learned a lot about the process of advertising on Facebook. I also learned for the first time about Google Analytics and everything that it s capable of doing. I think that it is amazing that one system can sort all of the data and everything. It was nice to be able to connect everything we have been using with an actually marketing job.

I learned a lot from James Frackleton about how he studies the demographics of who follows Google and Facebook analytics. I thought it was a little weird of how companies are allowed to use pop-up adds on peoples computers to try to buy their product from which they were looking at the other day. I think it is kind of strange how companies are following which sites you look into, in order for you to buy their products. I like that you can get a broad idea of who is looking at your add, which could help you invest more money and resources to go after this group by studying the demographics.

I learned a great deal from the presentation James Frackleton gave about Google Analytics and digital marketing. It was interesting to learn how websites like Facebook can track what other websites you have visited so it knows which advertisements to display. It makes advertising more personal and I think that was very interesting. I appreciate the time that you took out of your day to come in a teach us what you do.

Thank you to James Frackleton for coming into class and discussing my favorite aspect yet of marketing! Not only does our generation seem to be the in between of technological dependence and growth, but also as a whole society I believe modern day we are using more and more electronic ways to market products. It is important for people such as James to explain the up-and-coming ways of a broad sector of the business realm, because I feel as though some of the information taken from textbooks can be rather outdated. As a social media advocate myself, I found myself relating to what James was talking about and explaining in more ways than one. I knew previously about some of the marketing tactics discussed, but had no real idea for the specifics. James’ presentation helped me get a good idea of what I wish to do with marketing in the future.
Thank you for your work done to help our class and Merrimack in general!

I want to say thank you to James Frackleton for taking time out of his day to come inform our class about digital marketing, I thought his presentation was very informative and I know I definitely learned a lot about the inner workings of it even when I had thought I already knew a great deal about marketing! I was very thankful to be able to ask questions throughout and after because it was quite interesting and I had no idea some of the minor specifics about social media and digital marketing such as the amount of generated likes on Facebook or the heavy technological dependence. I found that I related deeply to what James had to say as I find myself leaning towards social media marketing as a possible career outlet.
Thanks again for coming into our class!!

Thanks James Frackleton for taking time out of your day to give us much information about digital marketing and how you pursue in your career. I found it interesting how important digital marketing and analytics are in marketing nowadays, considering the world is dependent on technology. It is easier reaching someone through their frequently used social media websites to inform them of a product they might be interested in or even to remind them of a product they were previously interested in. Thanks.

James gave us a great talk. I found it very interesting. Since I’m discovering this world of marketing i didn’t know very much about digital marketing and all of its aspects. I found amazing and very cool how you can break down a page into percentages where users go more often and how many times they clicked on that link. Doing so, you can valuate and make changes to improve your web site. Thank you again James for coming, it was such a great talk.

Thank you James Frackleton for taking time out of your day to give us insight and a lot of information about digital marketing and how you use it in your career. I found it was interesting learning about different marketing techniques and how people use different methods to gain information to market there companies or products to consumers. Even though I am not a marketing major i found it useful to understand how people can use google analytics to target consumers, and how ads are helpful in gaining consumers interest by targeting there previous online history. Overall it was a great talk and I greatly appreciated James taking time out of his work day to create a presentation.

Thank you to James for coming to speak with us about marketing and how it is used in his job here at Merrimack. All of the information he shared with us was very interesting and relatable considering he does a lot of work with prospective students online and just last year that was us. I am a marketing major so to see what we do in a classroom setting be taken and applied to actual work outside picks my brain because hopefully one day that will be me. Once again, thank you James for coming in! You gave a great presentation.

This presentation demonstrated how to use most of the concepts that we have seen in class and apply them into a real world atmosphere. It also brought out some concepts that we have not been able to go over, such as the online adds and how much they cost and how competitive it is to get an online spot for other people to view your adds. Also it was cool to see an example of what jobs are available to make this college run as smoothly as it does.
